A
South African pastor who claimed he snapped a selfie of himself in
heaven is unable to share the evidence after his camera phone went
missing.
Pastor Mboro says that he was lifted
into heaven by a beam of light which shone down on him
midway through an
Easter Sunday service in Johannesburg.
A Facebook account belonging to the
televangelist and self-proclaimed prophet claimed that he met Jesus’s
wife – a member of the African Xhosa people – and even claimed to have
taken snapshots of Paradise using his Samsung smartphone.
A spokesperson for the pastor confirmed
his visit and announced that unbelievers could see the celestial selfies
by wiring 5,000 Rand (£230) to Mboro’s Incredible Happenings church.
After social media users ridiculed the
pastor – real name Paseka Motsoeneng – he agreed to reveal the image on
Facebook, but before the pictures could be posted, the phone
mysteriously went missing. One of his bodyguards claimed that it was
stolen at a car wash.
“The pictures were really there, I saw
them. We suspect one of the boys washing the Prophet’s car took the
phone. But they all denied taking it, even after we threatened them,” he
told South African news website ENCA.
“All those who have deposited money will be refunded.”
